The origin story

The most precious spice, treated with respect

Saffron is the most expensive spice on earth, and most "saffron chai" contains almost none of it. Golden Saffron Chai is our refusal to cut that corner: real saffron threads in a warming chai base, blended in small batches. It is a celebration cup — the tea we serve when something matters.

Questions

Before you brew

Where does this tea actually come from?

Assam base · Kashmiri saffron — purposeful blend · limited. Every KVL single-estate tea traces to one garden, one flush, one harvest window, and our blends are built from estate teas we can name. If we can't trace it, we don't sell it.

How fresh is it?

Most commercial tea is 12–18 months old before it reaches a shelf. Ours travels from estate to your door in 4–8 weeks. Stored sealed, away from light and heat, it will hold its character for 12 months or more.

How many cups will I get?

A 2 oz (50 g) pouch brews roughly 20–25 cups; 3.5 oz (100 g) roughly 40–50. Most of our whole-leaf teas re-steep well, so the real number is usually higher.

What is the artwork on the tin?

Original artwork by Chitran, created for this tea. Each illustration draws from Indian cultural traditions and tells the story of this tea's character — a fusion of English and Hindu artistic traditions, and a different image for every tea we make.

    Golden Saffron Chai

A luxurious spiced chai blended from estate Assam black tea and genuine saffron strands, with warming whole botanicals.

Our Golden Saffron Chai is a rare and indulgent masala chai that goes far beyond convention. Built on robust Assam black tea from the Bahani estate, this blend weaves in genuine saffron strands for a warmly floral, deeply complex character unlike any chai you have tasted.

The cup is rich and golden-hued with layers of warm spice, a distinctly saffron character, and a smooth, malty depth that lingers.

A chai reserved for moments that deserve something exceptional.

    Origin

The black tea foundation comes from the Bahani garden in Assam, chosen for its full body and malty richness — the ideal base for a spiced blend. The saffron used is genuine saffron stamens, sourced for their distinctive floral-honeyed character and brilliant color.
